It is Thursday!  We only have one and a half more days of camp left and we are fitting in as much as we can.  The Bible classes are fun and our team activities are exciting.  Fun Hour is packed with talented kids and brave kiddos sharing with us the fun ways that they can be creative.  We are looking forward to another great day tomorrow!

Today has been a great day!  We learned about showing kindness and forgiveness.  The kids have been so wonderful with great attitudes and they have all just jumped in and participated in every activity.  It is hot out here, but we are staying hydrated and eating some very tasty meals!  Tonight we had our first Fun Hour (where kids get to show off their talents) and had everything from singing, baton twirling, jokes, piano playing, Taekwondo to skits!  We even had a little counselor silliness thrown in there.  I'm going to keep this post super short because we have so many pictures to share!  Enjoy and check out our Facebook page too!

Camp 2016 Has Begun!!

Today we welcomed all of your sweet children to New Beginnings Christian Camp 2016!  It has been a great start to our week.  After all the parents cleared out, the girls went straight to the pool to take the swim test and the boys spent time in their cabins getting to know the counselors and other campers.  After a quick snack, the girls went back to their cabins to get to know their counselors and other campers while the boys took their swim test.
The next activity was camp orientation where we learned all the rules of camp and the Brookhaven facility.  To get the fun started, we moved on to Wild Thing!!  This is a time to sing silly songs and get the wiggles out.  (pictures below)
Next we went to dinner and the headed on down to worship.  Worship was filled with wonderful singing and we just love to hear the sweet spirit and voices of these amazing children!
Marshall shared with us how the Bible is our road map on the journey of life.  We may run into obstacles, but the living word of God walks us through the darkest of times.
After finished up worship we had a quick snack (fruit and water) and then gathered again to finish up our day with meeting our teams that we will be doing our team activities with all week.  It is so fun to see so many new relationships starting on day one of camp between all ages!

Living the Life

Belt of Truth & Breastplate of Righteousness

Today we learned about the Belt of Truth and the Breastplate of Righteousness. These are important parts of our armor as we hold ourselves together with the truths that we know from God's word and keep the Breastplate on to help protect the core of who we are and our moral character.
The kids are having so much fun and are learning a lot!

Helmet of Salvation & Feet of Peace

Today we have been learning about parts of the Armor of God. We talked about the helmet of Salvation and how wearing it protects our minds from the Prince of Lies. We also talked about our feet of peace and how our shoes help us to be ready to carry the good news of Christ to others. We are having so much fun playing in the water and in team activities! Today has been a great day!

One of the greatest blessings of being part of staff at camp, is being able to witness these sweet children discover new truths and grow as they dig deeper into the word of our mighty God!
